Hi, I'm the author of two short stories and one novel 'The Picnic', Black and White, 2007. And one forthcoming non-fiction book about literary partnerships, 'Between the Sheets', published by Overlook Press, New York, next year. I'm also a literary critic for Scottish and London newspapers. I'll be posting up some of my reviews, recommending a 'book of the week'and choosing a favourite each month from the thirty books I read every four weeks.

I'm talking to the Mitchell Library Reading groupe about my book, The Picnic, on Tuesday 8th September at 6pm.
Weegie Wednesday, a networking evening for writers, publishers, journalists, booksellers etc upstairs at the Universal Bar, Sauchiehall Lane Wednesday 16th September, from 7.30pm, with the boys from Dangerous Ink and the girls from Fractured West.

About Me

- Well, I've been a literary critic since 1997 - before that, I taught in the English Dept at St Andrews University for two years. I have a PhD on James Joyce and feminist theory, for my sins. I published my first piece of fiction in 'Secrets', edited by Janice Galloway (Polygon) in 2005, with a story called 'Dear anne', which was shortlisted for the Scotsman/Orange Short Story prize. I published another short story, 'Aschenputtel 08' in 'Cleave' edited by Sharon Blackie (Two Ravens Press) last year. Next year, my book on literary partnerships, 'Between the Sheets: Famous Literary Partnerships of Nine 20th Century Women Writers' will be published by Overlook Press, New York.
